The second most important story of Surah Al-Kahf is about a person whom Allah Almighty blessed with worldly wealth and fertile gardens. He had two beautiful gardens of grapes.

This is an example of two men: one of whom Allah Almighty gave abundant wealth, a garden, and children; he became proud and selfish, while the other person was poor yet thankful to Allah.

In this incident, the attitude and behaviour of a wealthy person, which Almighty Allah had bestowed on the worldly, had two beautiful and fertile gardens with a field in between. These gardens were irrigated effortlessly, producing abundantly every year without ever decreasing, and he received multi-pronged every year. Besides all of this, he was blessed with immense wealth and material possessions.

A wealthy person considers his wealth and children much greater than the other person’s. And he steps into his garden with arrogance; he considers them the result of his hard work rather than thanks to Allah’s blessings. He assumes that what he has, he has forever, and on the Day of Judgement, he will get something better than that.

We often become so engrossed in the happiness of the world that the idea of the end is neglected by us. We think that if we are doing something good in our lives, it will be with us forever, and we always expect better. This is the deception of the world.

All his fruits were destroyed, and he was getting his hands in a world of trouble. He had spent something on it. He was lost, and he was sad. I wish I had not shared anyone with my Lord.

His gardens had a shadow of misfortune, and they became deserted and destroyed. He turned to Allah when he did not expect help from anyone else, and he was sorry that he had associated with Allah.

There was no helper other than Allah, and he was not in a state of saving his own.

When all his wealth and people were lost, the rich man was humiliated, and he could not handle his own situation, nor could he benefit from his assets or helpers.

Here is the full authority of Allah, who has the truth. He is the best reward and the best end.

It is the rule of Allah. He deserves the most in reward and punishment. May Allah protect us from His punishment.

In this story we receive a clear message of testimony from Allah. The blessing of wealth is a test that reminds man to thank God and be generous with others, while the poor man’s test is to be patient and to believe in the destiny of Allah. In addition, it is clear that arrogance ruins a man, while humility gives a person honor. This story teaches us that whatever we have in the world is just a test, and those who are patient with it are successful.

May Allah bless us with a sincere heart and humbleness and make us successful in the world and the end.
